Super HD DVR Series FAQs

1. Go to Main Menu > Maintenance > Reset Default, then click OK.

2. If the DVR asks you to log in after the reset, enter the default password, 00000000 (eight zeros), and click Login.

For security, we recommend creating a strong password. Go to Main Menu > Configuration > User and edit the admin password.

3. If a password creation screen appears after the reset, your DVR does not use a default password. Create a new password, then log in.

4. If you are locked out and cannot access the Maintenance menu, contact us at [email protected] and include your order ID.

For cameras without a built-in microphone, you will need an external audio device (sold separately). Connect it to one of the DVR’s Audio In ports. These ports correspond to camera channels 1–4.

Go to Main Menu > Record > Video & Audio. Select the channel, set Audio to Analog, enable Record Audio, and click Apply.

For a camera with a built-in microphone, go to Main Menu > Record > Video & Audio. Select the channel, set Audio to Coaxial, enable Record Audio, and click Apply.

Yes. You can use a TIGERSECU 60 ft cable or a compatible coaxial video cable from another brand.

For runs longer than 100 ft, we recommend standard 75-ohm coaxial cable, such as 75-3 or 75-5 cable.

1. Lower the main-stream recording bitrate.

Go to Main Menu > Record > Video & Audio. Change Quality to High, Medium, or Low. Alternatively, select Custom and choose a lower main-stream bitrate. Click Copy to All, then click Apply.

2. Set the DVR to record only when motion is detected.

Go to Main Menu > Record > Schedule. Select Event as the recording type, then click and drag on the timetable to set the recording periods. Enable the schedule and click Apply.

3. Install a higher-capacity hard drive.

When choosing a hard drive, look for the following:

• A 3.5-inch internal surveillance hard drive. Desktop computer drives and external USB drives are not recommended for TIGERSECU DVRs.

• A capacity of up to 16 TB.

• WD Purple surveillance hard drives are recommended. Compatible surveillance drives from Toshiba and Seagate are also supported.

The TIGERSECU Super HD DVR supports USB 2.0 flash drives formatted as FAT32.

Try the following steps:

1. Test the USB flash drive on a computer. If the computer does not detect it, try another flash drive.

2. Reconnect the flash drive to the DVR and make sure it is fully inserted.

3. If the DVR still does not detect it, remove the flash drive and connect the DVR mouse to the same USB port. This will help determine whether the USB port is working.

Refer to the backup screen shown below and follow these steps:

1. Go to Main Menu > Playback > Backup.

2. Select All Channels or one channel. For best results, we recommend backing up one channel at a time.

3. Set the From and To times. Make sure recordings exist for the selected period by checking Playback first.

4. Click Calculate to view the estimated file size.

5. Select USB Flash Drive as the backup device, then insert the flash drive into a DVR USB port.

6. Wait until Status changes from Unplugged to Ready and the available space appears. Then click Backup.

Wait until the progress bar reaches 100%. The backup is saved as an M4V file, which is supported by most video players. If needed, use VLC Media Player or MPC-HC to play the file.

1. Go to Main Menu > Configuration > Time Settings.

2. Select the correct time zone for your location. The default is GMT−08:00 (Pacific Time).

3. Enable Daylight Saving Time (DST) if your location observes it. You can keep the default start and end dates. Hawaii, most of Arizona, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, and American Samoa do not observe DST. Disable DST if applicable.

4. Click Update Now. After the time is synchronized, click Apply.

The TIGERSECU Super HD DVR supports analog BNC cameras using TVI, CVI, AHD, or CVBS (D1) video formats, with resolutions up to 5 MP.

To check whether an analog BNC camera is compatible:

1. Find the camera model number, usually printed on the bottom or side of the camera.

2. Look up the camera’s video format and resolution on the manufacturer’s website, Amazon, or Google.

3. A TVI, CVI, AHD, or CVBS (D1) analog BNC camera is compatible if its resolution is supported by the DVR.

4. SDI cameras are not compatible.

• Some IP cameras may work with limited functionality. Contact us at [email protected] before purchasing to confirm compatibility.

1. Check whether the camera’s infrared LEDs turn on in a dark environment. This confirms that the camera is receiving power.

2. Search for the camera brand and model number online to confirm its video format and resolution.

The Super HD DVR supports TVI, AHD, CVI, and CVBS cameras up to 5 MP (2560 × 1920 at 12.5 fps). SDI cameras are not compatible.

Complete the Startup Wizard. Then go to Main Menu > Camera and set Video Format to CVI for the affected channel.

If the image is still black and white, contact us at [email protected] and provide the camera brand and model number.

Wavy lines may be caused by interference from the power supply or video cable, or by a loose video connection.

First, test the camera with a known-good power supply. We recommend the TIGERSECU 12V 5A Security Camera Power Adapter when appropriate for your setup. If the issue continues, test another video cable and reconnect the BNC connectors at both the camera and DVR.

We recommend a 3.5-inch internal surveillance hard drive, such as a WD Purple drive. Compatible surveillance drives from Toshiba and Seagate are also supported. The maximum supported capacity is 16 TB per drive.

External USB hard drives cannot be used for recording.

Turn off the DVR and disconnect the power adapter. Open the DVR case and make sure both the SATA data cable and power cable are firmly connected to the DVR and hard drive.

Use the power adapter supplied with the DVR. An incorrect or underpowered adapter may prevent the DVR from detecting the hard drive.

If possible, test the DVR with another compatible hard drive, then restart the system and check whether the drive is detected.

If the issue continues, contact us at [email protected] for assistance.

Follow the illustrated steps below. Before installing or replacing a hard drive, turn off the DVR and disconnect the power adapter.

1. Use a screwdriver to remove the case screws.

2. Remove the top cover.

3. Prepare the hard drive and four mounting screws.

4. Connect the SATA data cable and power cable to the hard drive. Make sure the connectors are correctly oriented.

5. Position the hard drive so its mounting holes align with the holes on the bottom or side of the DVR case.

6. Secure the hard drive with the mounting screws.

After installation, go to Main Menu > HDD, select the hard drive, and click Format.

Go to Main Menu > HDD and check whether the hard drive appears and whether its status is Recording.

If the status is Error or Unformatted, select the hard drive and click Format. After formatting is complete, the status should change to Recording.

If the hard drive does not appear in the HDD menu, contact [email protected] and provide the following information:

• Your order ID.

• Whether you are using the power adapter supplied with the DVR.

If the hard drive appears in the HDD menu, open the DVR menu bar and select the Record icon.

Select Continuous Record (the hand-shaped icon). The DVR should begin recording.

If the DVR has a valid IP address and UID Status is ON, confirm that you entered the correct port number and password in the app.

If the IP address is 0.0.0.0 or UID Status is OFF, connect the DVR directly to the router instead of through a Wi-Fi extender. Restart the router and try again.

If the error continues, review the detailed troubleshooting guide on our website or contact us at 323-315-0396 or [email protected].
